In March 2009 Greet was diagnosed with breast cancer. After 3 years, Greet lost the battle against this disease and died on Aug 13, 2011 as a result of metastasis of breast cancer.
A song picked by Greet and played at her funeral was Treasure, by The Cure. The message that Greet wanted to convey with that song was not to be embittered but to remember her and smile !
She whispers
"please remember me
When I am gone from here"
She whispers
"please remember me
But not with tears"
"Remember me and smile...
For it's better to forget
Than to remember me
And cry... "
